We just spent a weekend in Grants Pass, Oregon, and it was the perfect mix of small-town charm, scenic drives, great wine, and local flavor. Tucked along the Rogue River in Southern Oregon, Grants Pass makes an ideal home base for a laid-back but adventure-filled getaway.
We started our trip by exploring some of the local wineries in the Applegate Valley—just a short drive from town. The rolling hills, vineyard views, and relaxed tasting rooms made for the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Each stop offered something unique, from bold reds to crisp whites, and the hospitality was as good as the wine.
One of the highlights was a day trip to the redwoods and Brookings. We took a scenic drive through the Smith River corridor, and within a couple of hours, we were surrounded by towering coastal redwoods. Walking among these giants was peaceful, humbling, and totally unforgettable.
Back in town, we stopped by The Glass Forge, where we watched local artists shape molten glass into beautiful, colorful pieces. It was mesmerizing to watch—and we even created our own handmade souvenirs to take home. It’s one of those places that captures the creative spirit of the region perfectly.
On Saturday morning, we wandered through the Grants Pass Growers' Market, full of fresh produce, flowers, artisan goods, and live music. It had that classic community vibe where everyone knows each other and the food is as fresh as it gets.
We couldn’t leave without a stop at Rogue Creamery, just down the road in Central Point. Their famous blue cheese is legendary—and tasting it right at the source? Even better. We stocked up on a few wedges (and maybe some grilled cheese sandwiches, too).
Between the wine, the redwoods, local art, and delicious food, Grants Pass gave us everything we wanted in a weekend: beauty, flavor, and the kind of calm that stays with you long after the trip is over.
