After wrapping up our time in the lush greenery of Grants Pass, Oregon, we packed up the car and hit the road, heading south for our next travel assignment. What followed was a scenic, memorable road trip full of contrasts — from mountain passes and high desert plateaus to neon-lit cityscapes and sun-soaked cactus country. Here's a look at our journey from Grants Pass to Tucson, with stops in Reno and Las Vegas along the way!
Stop #1: Reno, Nevada – The Biggest Little City in the World
Our first leg took us across the state line into Nevada and straight into Reno. Nestled at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, Reno surprised us with its mix of vintage charm and modern flair. We stretched our legs downtown, grabbed some great food, and tried our luck at a casino (just for fun — no jackpot stories here, sadly).
We also made time to check out the Truckee River Walk and enjoyed the cool, crisp air that still carried a bit of that mountain chill. After a restful night, we were back on the road, ready for the next big city on our list.
Stop #2: Las Vegas, Nevada – Lights, Energy, and a Whole New World
From the quiet cool of Reno to the buzzing energy of Las Vegas, the contrast couldn’t have been sharper. Vegas greeted us with its usual flair — bright lights, vibrant streets, and 24/7 energy. Even though we were just passing through for a short stay, we made sure to take in a little bit of everything.
We strolled the Strip, enjoyed some great street food at Chica, saw Mystere, and soaked in the over-the-top vibe that only Las Vegas can deliver. It was fun, chaotic, and just the right amount of wild before heading further south.
Final Stop: Tucson, Arizona – Our New Home (for Now)
After hours of desert highways, wide-open skies, and occasional pit stops for iced coffee and snacks, we finally rolled into Tucson — our new base for the next travel assignment.
Tucson welcomed us with sunshine, saguaro cacti, and a laid-back Southwestern vibe that already feels like home. The landscape is striking, with fiery sunsets and rugged mountain backdrops. We’re excited to explore Saguaro National Park, dive into Tucson’s rich culture and food scene (hello, Sonoran hot dogs!), and settle into this new chapter.
A Journey of Landscapes and New Beginnings
One of the best parts of travel assignments is the journey in between — the chance to see new places, meet new people, and experience the many faces of the American West. From Oregon’s forests to Nevada’s neon glow and Arizona’s desert beauty, this trip reminded us just how diverse and beautiful this country is.
We’re grateful for the road that brought us here and even more excited for what lies ahead in Tucson.
Stay tuned — more adventures to come!
