Before hitting the road for our next travel assignment, we spent one final weekend soaking in all the things we love about Grants Pass, Oregon. This little town has been such a peaceful home base, surrounded by natural beauty and full of personality — and we couldn’t leave without one more deep dive into what makes it special.
From local produce and artisan goods to colorful art and rescued wildlife, our last weekend here was the perfect send-off.
Saturday Morning: Growers Market Goodness
We kicked things off at the Grants Pass Growers Market — one of our favorite Saturday rituals while living here. The fall colors were just starting to show, and the market was buzzing with locals bundled in flannels, sipping coffee, and filling their baskets with fresh, local produce.
We stocked up on some late-season apples, homemade jams, and a few baked goods that didn’t last the ride home (no regrets). Local musicians played in the background, and we even picked up a handmade ceramic mug as a little keepsake from our time in Oregon.
Saturday Afternoon: Art on the Rogue Festival
In the afternoon, we headed downtown for the Art on the Rogue Festival, an annual event that turns the streets into open-air galleries. The sidewalks came alive with chalk art — vibrant, detailed pieces that ranged from whimsical to breathtaking. Artists of all ages were hard at work, and we loved seeing the creative energy spilling onto every corner.
Live music, food trucks, and interactive booths made it more than just an art show — it felt like the heart of the community on full display. It was the kind of small-town festival that reminds you why these places are so special.
Sunday: A Wild Goodbye at Wildlife Images
On Sunday, we made one last visit to Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center, one of the hidden gems of the area. It’s more than just a place to see animals — it’s a sanctuary with a mission, rescuing and caring for injured or orphaned wildlife.
We visited with some familiar faces: the bald eagles, bears, and owls that we’ve come to know over our time here. We got to be a part of the Wallaby Experience learning their stories — how they were rescued and why they can’t be released — gave us a deeper appreciation for the work being done there.
It was both fun and humbling, and the perfect way to wrap up our weekend with a dose of nature and heart.
Goodbye for Now, Grants Pass
Leaving a place you’ve grown to love is never easy. Grants Pass may not be a big city, but it has a big heart — and we’re so thankful for the time we spent here. From early morning walks along the Rogue River to discovering local treasures like the Growers Market and Wildlife Images, it’s a place that made us feel at home.
Onward to Tucson!
