Bonus Day Trip: Crater Lake & Wizard Island Adventure
After the coast, we couldn’t resist adding a day trip to Crater Lake National Park. We arrived early and took a full drive around the rim, stopping at all the main viewpoints to admire the deep blue water and panoramic vistas. Pictures don’t come close to capturing the color or scale.
The highlight? A boat tour to Wizard Island. We hiked down the Cleetwood Cove Trail to the boat dock—a steep but manageable descent—then cruised across the lake to the island. Once there, we took the hike to the summit of Wizard Island, which offered 360-degree views of the lake from inside a volcano. Standing at the top, with nothing but sky and water all around, was the ultimate moment of the trip.
Final Thoughts
In just a few days, we experienced towering redwoods, misty canyons, ocean cliffs, volcanic islands, and some of the most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. Each day offered something completely different, yet the whole trip felt seamless—connected by a love of nature, quiet moments, and unforgettable views.
If you're looking for a long weekend packed with natural wonder, this one hits all the high notes.
